Each exercise in BrainHQ has a progress bar located at the top of the exercise window. The progress bar is designed to give you feedback in real-time about how well you're scoring during your training. It shows you how many stars you've earned on this given level, and how many trials you have left to do.
There are a few parts that make up the progress bar:
- The number in the star to the left of the progress bar displays how many stars have been earned on this level.
- [#] TURNS LEFT indicates how many trials are left in this level.
- The vertical lines on the progress bar are called "steps" and represent a shift in the stimuli.
- The gray dot represents your current progress.
- Green arrows indicate that a trial has been answered correctly. Once all of the arrows to the right of the gray dot have turned green, the exercise will get one step more challenging.
- Red arrows indicate that a trial has been answered incorrectly. Once all of the arrows to the left of the gray dot have turned red, the exercise will get one step easier.
- When the gray dot reaches the gray star to the right, a star is earned.
Other things to note:
- The number of correct trials to move up a step is different for each exercise. In the example image above, taken from Eye for Detail, it takes two correct answers to move up a step and one incorrect answer to move down a step. We would call this a 2-up-1-down progression.
- The number of correct trials to advance to the next star is different for each exercise and depends on how difficult the stimulus is. The stars boundaries are very roughly related to the percentage of people who reach the point on the meter. e.g. only 20% of the people will reach the 5th star.
